The Rundown: Ben’s search for a missing kid will bring him deeper into an underworld conspiracy.

The guy who used to beat up a young Ben Grimm on Yancy Street has come to the Thing asking for help finding his missing niece. After tracking down a lead, the pair find themselves confronted by Bullseye who also seems to have gotten a super strength makeover. After knocking out the assassin, Ben decides to wait for someone to pick him up and track the killer to where they could be hiding the girl.

After tracking the kidnappers to the docks, Ben decides to move in, but the man is charge has a connection to a secret experiment from the Kingpin and Hammerhead is going to a tough nut to crack. Things get even worse when the warehouse they’re investigating explodes potentially destroying both the evidence and the witnesses.

The Story: Fleecs delivers a fun, funny and entertaining story in this issue. I love the idea of Thing becoming embroiled in street level crime while also dealing with the ghosts of his own past in the form of the person he’s reluctantly teamed up with. There’s some great interpersonal conflict throughout the story and the conspiracy at the heart of it continues to grab and hold my attention. I look forward to seeing where this story goes next after that explosive cliffhanger.

The Art: Mason delivers great art throughout the story. I love the look of the series and how it leans into the street level elements of the story.
